I am James Stanfill, I cut my teeth in bike shops from the age of 15 until today... after 30+ years I have learned a thing or two about what works and what doesn't. I have also learned that there is no cut and paste fix. Every business is unique. My process includes taking the time to dive in and learn what is going on before I start to offer any advice. What I can promise is that I want understanding your situation, learning your needs and goals, and partner with you to create positive solutions.
What makes me qualified to help you?
I have been in the bicycle industry for more than 30-years. I have worked in small shops, high volume gigantic shops and everyday shops. I opened my own shop and achieved 60% profitability in our 2nd year operating full time. I have also worked within larger portions of the industry, I managed the R&D bike shop at Specialized, worked in field technical support for Cannondale and I have spent many hours and days traveling the world in support of professional athletes, including trips to World Championships and Olympic Games. 

The bicycle industry didn't teach me management or numbers, I learned that when I spent 5-years working for a Fortune 500 company. While there I received in-depth training on all things retail management. I had 100 employees and operated 10 locations each doing about a million dollars in business annually. 

In 2015 I founded the Professional Bicycle Mechanics Association, and while ensuring mechanics have the training they need and desire and helping to elevate the profession from a hobby to a career I have learned that bicycle shops need help. I have given speeches, managed events, hosted panel discussions and have had the opportunity to be a part of frank and candid discussions surrounding industry trends and our industry's future. An important part of our future is to ensure mechanics have places to work and build their individual partnerships with great owners and managers.

My service costs will vary based on the conversation we will have. I prefer to embed myself in your operation but am also able to analyze and assist from my desk at home.
